Raphael Malta Clasen, born in Ribeirão Preto, in the countryside of São Paulo, began his professional journey in Santa Catarina in 2003. During this period, he delved into visual anthropology and took his first steps in cinema, collaborating on short film productions focused on visual ethnography, as well as working as an editor and cinematographer.
In 2009, he made his debut as a Director of Photography with the short film Relógio de Pêndulo, shot in his hometown, Ribeirão Preto. Shortly after, he moved to São Paulo, where he began an internship in production at the renowned O2 Filmes Publicitários. After completing the internship in 2010, Raphael started working as a second camera assistant, contributing to productions that included short films, music videos, and commercials.

Seeking new challenges, he moved to João Pessoa in 2011, continuing his path in the camera department. It was in Recife, in 2012, that he completed his second work as a Director of Photography, in the short film O Que se Memora, directed by Caio Dornelas. From then on, his career flourished, working as a Director of Photography and camera assistant on several audiovisual projects. He stood out as a first camera assistant in the early short films of Bárbara Wagner, as well as in the feature films Retratos Fantasma by Kleber Mendonça and Propriedade by Daniel Bandeira.

Among his most notable contributions are his works as Director of Photography in films such as O Pico by Matheus Vieira and Ricardo Roque, Último Dia by Armando Lobo, and, in 2020, his first feature film as Director of Photography, Entre Nós Talvez Estejam Multidões, directed by Pedro Maia de Brito and Aiano Benfica, which received the ABRACINE Award for Best Feature Film at the Brasília Film Festival that same year.
He is currently working on two more feature films, one documentary and one fiction.

In parallel, he also develops his work as a colorist, combining his cinematographic expertise with color grading, having graded television programs, short and feature films, among other audiovisual works.
